Tieflings
According to legend, the kingdom of Tarsikka was torn apart by a war of succession between the rightful king and his younger brother. Thousands died and much of the land fell into ruin. When at last he was victorious, the rightful king laid a curse upon his brother and all of his followers, that everyone who saw them would know them for their treachery. Yet they were still the sons and daughters of Tarsikka, and he gave them bitter gifts so that they could survive in exile.
Tieflings wander throughout all the nations of the earth. Some seek to end the curse that was placed upon their line. Others are just looking to get by. Though they are unwelcome in most places, the common people believe that it is unlucky to injure or kill a tiefling, as your own children will share in their curse.
Tieflings in Akathia
- The Rat's Castle - In the remote and forbidding Sunbreak mountains, there is a fortress inhabited by an order of tiefling assassins. They have largely adopted Akathian culture. They carry out murder for hire within Akathia, but the leader of the assassins claims that everything they do is preparation for their return to Tarsikka, when they will reclaim their birthright.
Tieflings in Athral Isle
- Jora's Palace - A colony of some four hundred tieflings has sprung up on the westernmost reaches of the wastelands, where they survive largely through piracy and supporting other pirates.
Tieflings in the Principalities of Verdien
- The Drenberg Sanctuary - Beneath the port city of Drenberg, there is a warren of passages leading to a central chamber. In this room there stands a tall arch. Anyone who passes through this arch appears as a human for the next month. In this way, the tieflings of Drenberg hide their true natures from cells of demon hunters.
