In the dorm building, they find the correct door. The hallway is silent, apparently because many students are asleep at this late hour. Kicking the door open, they see one of the Abyssal insectoid monsters standing upright directly ahead of them and a woman of strikingly good looks at the other end of the room. A dozen or more vials of the drug sit on a side table by the windows. They waste no words in conversation; the abyssal monster surges forward, and Tommy meets it with full force. The woman already has a Space effect of some kind active, and after a brief exchange the effect becomes clear: she is co-located, and she shifts her real self to that other location. The mages can do little more than watch as she quickly heals her wounds with pattern restoration. A third enemy reveals itself, a spirit that directly attacks Volchik's and Surya's minds, trying to turn them against the rest of the cabal. They struggle with malicious impulses, hindering their attacks against the mage and the other creature.

After a few intense moments of struggle, Saint lines up the perfect shot against the Abyssal creature; it is, however, resilient enough to keep fighting even though guts and ichor are splattered across the wall of the hallway. When they finally kill it, the image of the enemy vanishes, but the spirit continues to attack. Tommy drives it away, however, with a powerful command, and they plan to be gone by the time it returns.

Quickly searching the room, they seize the vials, a few fistfuls of cash, and little else of note. They hurry back to the car, but as they leave Harvard campus they realize they are being followed by an SUV. Sequela and Surya weave quick destructive spells against the car, blowing out its tires and headlights, and eventually the pursuers are forced to give up the chase. They return to the Sanctum once they are confident that they are no longer being followed, and sleep well into the next day.

The next afternoon (13 June), they report their victory to Potestas, and Surya begins serious work with Ferrum on the new telekinetic rote.
