Location: Remagen, Duchy of Eastern Trempa

Result: Human victory

Belligerents: Humans of Eastern Trempa versus the Gnolls of the Eppen Mire

Commanders: Hans, Franz, Janos, Rickert, and Teodor vs. Unknown

Strength: 35 peasant levy and 20 baronial guardsmen vs. 60 hyenas, 90 gnolls, and 1 flind

Casualties and Losses: 20 injured, 8 dead vs. 100 dead, 50 missing

Equipped with good steel, the peasant levy and the guardsmen show extraordinary valor in the face of overwhelming forces. The initial fighting at the half-completed wooden wall is fierce but one-sided. Against the superior defensive position afforded by the towers, the gnolls and their hyenas died in the huge numbers. Eventually the battle shifted, with the gnolls attempting to skirt around the wall and press through the forest to the south. The underbrush severely impedes them, however, and they are not far enough from the tower to be safe from its archers. Two bands of gnolls make it all the way to the southern part of town, where a single squad of the levy meets them. For the first time, it seems that the gnolls may gain the upper hand, but the levy calls upon deep reserves of courage and training. They form a battle-line between two houses, where they stand firm against charge after charge from the gnoll marauders. The reserves arrive to bolster the shield-wall, and the gnolls fling themselves at the shields and spears of the pitiless defenders.

The five human leaders chase down the massive flind that the gnolls had kept as their own reserve. It is a dangerous fight, but the five of them encircle it and slowly grind the flind down.
